Tactical pants are a type of pants specifically designed as everyday workwear for a wide range of professionals and technicians.

Features

In terms of design, tactical pants are very similar to cargo pants, but with additional modifications and functionalities that are intended to augment the wearer's ability to perform a specific task. Tactical pants typically are solid in color, distinguishing them from cargo pants. Made with lightweight materials (65% polyester and 35% poly cotton ripstop), the belt loops are made thick enough to support a large belt to carry the weight of a sidearm, handcuffs or other equipment. External knife pockets are common, and the double reinforced seat and knees provide enhanced abrasion protection, with interior knee slots ready to accept 6mm neoprene kneepads. Various styles can be reinforced with bar-tacks, gussets, and certain brands are even coated with Teflon.

Usage

Due to their extensive utility values, tactical pants are commonly used as field uniforms or workwear for first responders and law enforcement professionals, including paramedics, emergency medical technicians, police officers, firefighters, rescuers and military personnel.

Outside of workplace settings, tactical pants are also worn by enthusiasts of extreme sports that require special equipments, such as mountain climbing and skydiving.
